Stillwater Wellness Retreat
Client: Concept Project
Industry: Health & Wellness
Services: Brand Identity
Stillwater is a small-batch retreat company hosting intimate, twelve-woman wellness retreats for women in transition, corporate exits, identity shifts, midlife reawakenings. Founded by a former HR executive who left corporate at 42 after burning out and found her own reset on a solo trip to a coastal cabin, Stillwater exists to give other women that same soft landing. Each retreat is a four-day homecoming held in heritage properties like restored farmhouses, lakeside cottages, and mountain inns, built around movement, journaling, fireside conversation, and no agenda after 7pm.

THE CHALLENGE
The wellness industry is loud. Crystals, sound baths, performative self-care, and a whole lot of noise dressed up as peace. Stillwater needed to feel like the opposite of all of it: warm, grounded, and quietly knowing, a brand built to earn trust through restraint rather than volume.
THE APPROACH
Every choice traced back to a single feeling: a quiet morning by the lake. The palette was the hardest decision in the project. I wanted it to represent both land and sea, so blue and green both had to earn their place rather than picking one and playing it safe. The result is a cool, grounded system anchored by deep evergreen and misty blue, built to read like the inside of a cottage at dawn rather than a spa brochure.
The emblem does double duty by design. The swirling S shapes represent both the brand's initial and a pair of swans in continuous motion, a nod to grace, calm, and flow. For the wordmark, I chose a custom handwritten script on purpose, personal and intricate rather than mass-produced, the same way the retreats themselves are meant to feel like something an attendee treasures rather than just attends.
The system carries past the core identity into a full brand world: a custom monogram, a textile and water-inspired pattern, and a merchandise line built around the same palette and swan emblem, apparel, tote bags, towels, and welcome kit materials. It also extends into the physical retreat space itself, from yoga studio wall branding to the soft textural pieces guests actually touch during their stay, so the identity feels lived in rather than printed.
THE OUTCOME
Stillwater is a spec brand identity project, built to demonstrate what it looks like to design a full brand world, not just a logo, around the idea of slowing down. The system carries the same grounded, unhurried feeling from the wordmark all the way through to a folded towel on a retreat bed.
